under the weather...

It has been a crazy few days! I left for the cabin on Thursday. I was planning on staying until today some time. Anyhow, a few weeks ago I was going to go to girls camp. I started having real bad back cramps etc. To make a long story short, it was kidney stones. I ended up driving home yesterday, and to the hospital yesterday afternoon. The Dr. believes I have passed one stone, and have 1 more to pass. He said, the one that is still in the kidney, is 4 centimeters. Anything under 5 is passable, with out any kind of surgical help. I was relieved to hear that part. I wasn't relieved to hear that I still have 1 more stone to pass. The good news for me, is that I know what is wrong with me. Most of this month I just have not felt like my self. Lot's of cramping, and back pain. I will be laying low for the next little while. I am supposed to make an appointment to see a Urologist in the morning. Today I staying home from church. I am going to make a bed on the couch, drink lot's of water, take the meds. they gave me, and rest. It is so hard being sick with all of the kids home! I keep wanting to do so much, and know I can't.

I'm so sorry to hear about your stones. :( My 9 yo daughter has them too, and it just kills me to see her in pain. Drink some lemonade -- that really helps to break up the stones so it won't be so painful passing.

Take it easy. :) (did you ask for some pain meds?)

Do they have you using a 'strainer' to catch the stone in-
so you'll know it came out?! A little paper strainer from the hospital. That bites! Remember I passed 3, so I really know! So sorry for you. Sarah can hang with us this wee ;) School shopping!yay

I hear it can be as bad as giving birth so hopefully the medication they gave you is strong!! I had a kidney stone when I was pregnant and when they went to break it up after I had the baby they said it was gone. Since I never felt it they think I may have passed it during labor, how lucky is that?

I'm just catching up & oh my! So sorry to hear about that. Although I'm sure it is definitely good to just now what it is if you haven't been feeling quite like yourself. "This, too, shall pass." How cheesy is that?!

I am so so so so so so so sorry Michelle. I've had kidney stones 3 times and it's awful. Truely truely awful. If they don't get better, I highly recommend morphine - yes, you can call me a druggie but after hours spent in ER's and taking drugs at home that didn't do any good, I learned that begging to be admitted to the hospital for that morphine drip was the only way to go. Not to mention the constant IV to help pass the stone is waaaaaaaay better than drinking water and juices faster than the speed of lightening to get those things out.
I hope you get better soon! Sending you big hugs and tons of sympathy!

Ok, are kidney stones worse than labor? My dad had some a while back and he says even labor cannot feel that bad and I want to prove him wrong! So for someone who has done both, which is worse? :)

Feel better soon!

I have kidney stones too. They are terribly painful! At the moment I have a 2 cm and a 5 cm one in my right kidney.

Lots and lots of sympathy from me! I hope they pass with hardly any pain (if that is even possible!)

And I LOVE the new look to your blog! Where did you get this background from? I love, love LOVE it!!

((((HUGS)))) Hope you start feeling better SOON!

So sorry to hear about this, my family has been in town so I haven't been able to get to reading blogs as much as I'd like. I hope you are feeling better. My husband had one years ago, and it wasn't fun - sorry about the pain.
