not so good...

Well, we went to Sprinkles. I sure don't want to be Debbie Downer, but these things are horrible! So far no one here has been able to finish one of them. K, is it just my family? These cupcakes are about 75% frosting, and 25% dried cupcake. So far it looks like the other 5 or so cupcakes will be going to the garbage. We had a Rock Band get together last night. I set them out for the kiddos to eat. They finally said that they are gross, and went to Krispy Creams! I have to admit I was happy when they brought me back a few raspberry filled donuts! YUM! So that is my take on Sprinkles. The only thing, I seriously can think of, is that Oprah said they were good, so it has attracted people to this place. I spent 35.00 on a dozen cupcakes!!! I was just thinking about all of the cupcakes I could have made...next time. :)

What a total bummer! They looked so good in the picture. Yea, unfortunatly Oprah says a lot of things are great when they really aren't. Sorry you had to waist so much money on those things! Thanks for letting us know though so we don't go.

Dang, that's expensive! I've heard of Sprinkles, but cupcakes aren't my weakness. And, from the description of these, I don't think I'll be trying them any time soon. :) Have a great weekend, Michelle!

I totally agree!! I went out of my way on my girls trip to So. Cal. a few months ago to try these. I waited in a HUGE line and when I finally tried them?????? YUK!! Such a bummer. The only one I could even say was near edible was the Red Velvet.
Glad you were able to enjoy a good donut!

I can't believe it Michelle. They sound more like ripoff cakes. I think that their pictures are better than the cake. So not fair. Oprah must get a cut. You probably could have made better ones. Well I know you could have. Yeah for donuts...

Michelle, thanks for the info because I've wanted to give them a try too. Everytime we go down to Newport Beach we swing by and the line is out the door so we haven't stopped. Now I won't!

I LOVE Krispy Kreme...ours here went of busines as others across the country have...I was sooo sad then that place closed!

Michelle! I'm so glad I read this. You saved me a birthday disappointment. That's where I asked Jim to take me tomorrow after dinner. But I'm sure we can find something tastier!

Huge bummer. I've kind of wondered what the big deal was about a cupcake. Maybe Oprah liked them because she's never ever baked cupcakes and doesn't know how they're supposed to taste. Think I'll stick to making my own. Thanks for the warning!

What gets me is that they are so popular. What are people thinking?? They are really beautiful, but that doesn't do justice for the nastiness! What a bummer! I would be ticked. Do you think you maybe got a bad batch?? You need to complain!

I went to Magnolia bakery in NY last spring for the same hyped up reasons. We waited in a long line that went around the corner & outside. It was a complete waist! I couldn't believe it!!! they were darling but they tasted just like a cupcake from the grocery store. The frosting was that yucky stuff that tastes like crisco. Blahkkk
I am so dissapointed in sprinkles... glad you let us in on it!

OK, I'm glad someone else isn't smitten by these cupcakes. I've been there 2x and have to say they are just ok. The ones I've always had were very moist but the frosting is always really greasy. Honestly, they aren't even that cute looking if you ask me. For $4.00, I could do a better job at decorating them!

What a disappointment. We go to Magnolias in NYC and it is 100% primo!

It's a good thing out Krispy Kream is 16 miles away or I would be 16 pounds heavier.

I've never had a cupcake from sprinkles, but good to know I'm not missing anything. When I went to NYC last year I heard that I just had to have a cupcake at Magnolias Bakery in Greenwich Village. I don't know if it was the build up or what, but I was disappointed in those. I think Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines rocks compared to those. Maybe I just don't have sophisticated taste, but a dry dense cupcake with loads of sugary frosting isn't very good to me.
Such a bummer that you wasted your $.
